The Toyota Supra is a great car and all, but it lacks one major thing: the option of having a manual transmission
Its sister car, the BMW Z4 is offered with a manual in select markets, but even at that, it’s only available on the entry-level model
Rumors about the Supra being offered with a manual have been circulating since the Supra was launched, with the latest rumor coming in late Feb 2022.
Now, a leaked image has given us some vital details and a timeline of what to expect
There’s no word on what markets it will be available but the 2023 Supra 3.0 could be offered with a manual transmission
The four-cylinder model, however, will remain with the ZF eight-speed auto as the only choice
Beyond this, a special manual-equipped Supra dubbed the Matte White Edition will also be launched, with exclusive interior and exterior colors as standard equipment
That model will also include wireless charging and USB ports and could be a JDM special as it’s said to be priced at an extra 550,000 Yen or about $4,766 at current exchange rates
Regardless of Toyota’s unwillingness to comment on rumors, we’ll apparently learn what’s in store for the Supra soon enough
The linked images suggest an official announcement on April 28, 2022, with production starting in the middle of the year, and sales commencing in October 2022.
