Chevrolet Drag Racing Cars

Classic car drag races never get old as we are always curious to see how different versions of 1960s and 1970s muscle cars perform on the drag strip 50 years after their production. This Cars and Zebras drag race is between two unlikely cars. We say that because both the 1967 Dodge Coronet and 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS are relatively base versions so, naturally, we were curious how they would perform over a quarter-mile.

Old-school vs Modern muscle car face-offs are not that uncommon and people really dig them. But, when was the last time you saw a 60s brute take on a proper performance SUV. Well, this duel between a classic Chevelle and a modern-day performance family hauler is sure worth your time.

As ever, this video by the Wheels Channel on YouTube didn’t have the exact numbers so I’m going to run with the baseline specs to give you some context.

Pure Stock drag races are fun. As the name suggests you have some pretty tight rules in order to qualify for this class. But I’m sure that it’s the most honest way to find out about the out-of-the-box performance of these old-school muscle cars. This duel between a 69 Vette and the 68 Coronet Super Bee sure does seem to fit the bill rather well. Let’s look at the baseline figures of both these cars.

It’s not every day that you get to see old muscle cars in their purest form go head to head, do we? But, here we are. This particular duel saw a 1970 Pontiac GTO take on a 1968 Chevelle SS 396 at the annual Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race or PSMCDR, held in September at the Mid-Michigan Motorplex.

In a recent video by Wheels, we saw two top-of-the-line Chevy performance cars go head-to-head. Both cars offer a lot of poke under the hood straight out of the box. Throw in a few performance mods and you sure can turn up the heat, even more as you’ll witness in the video.

Hoonigan’s “This vs Plaid” series continues to search for the Tesla Model S Plaid’s limits. This time, they pit the high-performance EV against a highly-modified Chevrolet Silverado that’s barely street-legal. The same Tesla already lost to a 1,700 horsepower Audi R8, but now, a 1,500 horsepower Chevy Silverado wants to have a go at it. Will LS power prevail?

Few things are as American as a quarter-mile drag race between two classic muscle cars. The YouTube channel Cars and Zebras is providing us, on a regular basis, with some of the most exciting muscle car drag races, most of which are between classic V-8 beasts from the 1960s and early-1970s. This time, we have the pleasure of seeing a 1967 Pontiac GTO versus a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS. Place your bets.

YouTube channel Cars And Zebras, obviously, shares our love for the V-8 beasts of old, which is why we managed to get this epic video of a 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS 454 racing a 1970 Buick GS 455 Stage 1. Towards the end of the Muscle car era, these two were among the fastest muscle cars you could buy.

The GMC Yukon is probably not the first vehicle that you think of when you want to go racing at the drag strip. The owner of this second-gen Yukon, though, had other ideas.

Edmunds has been staging some pretty cool drag races at Willow Springs off late. They recently pit the Mustang Mach-E Performance against the Tesla Model Y and the Shelby GT500. In yet another Gas vs Electric showdown, the Mach-E takes on a proper mid-engined supercar in the form of the C8 Chevy Corvette.

Despite 2021 being a fairly challenging year for the entire auto industry as a whole, we still managed to see some fairly phenomenal cars throughout the year. The muscle car scene was no different. Our numbers tell us that these were some of the cars that you, i.e our readers enjoyed reading the most in 2021.

In one of Drag Racing and Car Stuff YouTube channel’s most recent videos, you’ll get to see a bunch of drag racers hit the track to take part in the 2n Annual Christmas tree Drag Race Championship at Bradenton Motorsports Park, down in Florida. Most, if not all the cars that took part that night were carrying a lit Christmas tree on the roof.

Now the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Ford Explorer is no stranger to the drag strip. We previously saw it take on the likes of the mighty Nissan GT-R, a Shelby Mustang GT500,, and a quad bike. This time around, it goes up against a far more humble runabout in the form of your every day Tesla Model Y.

Accler8, recently pitted a Tesla Model S Plaid against a C8 Corvette. Yes, yes, the Plaid has been mega at the drag strip ever since it went on sale earlier this year. So, with less than 500 horses in the C8 to 1000 in the Plaid, was this even fair? Well, there’s a twist to this one. Let’s see how this pans out.

The Hoonicorn is back on popular demand, for Season two of Hoonicorn vs the World. Apparently, the cars that featured in season one weren’t fast enough and so, to turn it up a notch, the Hoonigan Channel will soon be pitting Ken Blocks Mustang against some outrageously powerful cars, which according to the guys are some of the fastest on YouTube.

1000 horsepower fire-breathing monsters are a common sight at almost any drag strip these days, but I’m sure most people would like to know how some sports cars perform out of the box.

Well in their latest video, Wheels shows a bone stock C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 taking on a Shelby Mustang GT350 and Shelby Mustang GT500. Let’s see which one comes out on top. The showdown took place at the Mission Raceway Park up in BC, Canada.
