• Here’s A Look At The Hybrid BMW M5 That Could Make Close To 750 Horses!

750 horsepower under the hood will give BMW competitors a lot to stress about

BMW has been offering the current generation M5 since 2017, so a new generation was expected to come out soon. First, rumors about the next M5 started to surface in 2020 when we learned for the first time that the sports sedan could be hybrid. Then, back in January 2022, we had the first spy shots that confirmed those rumors: the next M5 will indeed be a hybrid car!

Now, BMW continues to test the next M5, and our spy photographers were able to catch a prototype playing in the snow around Sweden.

This is more of a mule than a production-ready prototype, so we have no idea what the next M5 will end up looking like. However, what we do know for sure is that the next M5 will be wider than the regular 5 Series and there are hopes that it won’t get the huge kidney grille from the M3/M4.

The prototype also rides on some wide wheels combined with some very big brakes, while at the back, you can easily spot the quad exhaust pipes - a signature of the M5.

As for the powertrain, rumors suggest that BMW’s next M5 will be powered by the same V-8 dual electric motor plug-in hybrid powertrain that will be used in the future XM SUV. In the SUV, this system delivers a total of 737 horsepower, so, it is very possible for the next M5 to deliver no less than 737 pound-feet of twist. Power will be sent to all four wheels. This move will put the next Mercedes-AMG E63 into a lot of trouble!

The new generation BMW M5 is expected to be unveiled in 2023, with sales to begin in 2024.
